Teams and Organisations

Team Offsites and Executive Retreats

Bring your boldest problem. Your team already has the answers. We facilitate and energise, so you leave with a plan you own.

Time on the problem that matters

Bring your team to Wade and spend a day on the problem you keep deferring. We design and facilitate the process around your agenda.

The method comes from a decade of running entrepreneurship and innovation programs: open the problem up properly, cut hard to what matters, and leave with a plan someone owns by the end of the day.

Sessions run at Wade Institute, on the grounds of Ormond College at the University of Melbourne. Choose a single facilitated day, a two-day offsite, or a multi-day retreat with accommodation and dining.

Tell us the problem and the size of the group. We’ll come back with a format, a venue and a price.

Who is it for?

These sessions are built for intact teams with a real decision in front of them — not open-enrolment training. Groups we work with include:

  • Executive and senior leadership teams
  • Corporate innovation and strategy teams
  • Boards and advisory groups
  • Not-for-profit and philanthropic teams
  • University faculties, departments and research groups.

Benefits

  • Get the whole team out of the building and onto one problem
  • Work with Wade’s facilitators and experts
  • Draw on the Wade innovation method
  • Leave with a prioritised plan and named owners, not a wall of sticky notes
  • A unique hertiage campus with modern purpose built collaboration spaces
  • Onsite catering and accommodation so nobody has to leave to eat or sleep

Where you’ll be

Wade Institute sits on the grounds of Ormond College in Parkville. Its Hall, seminar rooms and grounds give a team day a different register to a hotel function room and everything, including meals and beds, is a few minutes’ walk apart.

We work with the College’s events team to match your group to the right spaces, arrange catering, and hold accommodation where you need it.

FAQs

How far ahead do we need to book?

Four weeks or more is comfortable — it gives us time to scope the session with you and to hold the rooms and catering. Shorter turnarounds are sometimes possible for a facilitated day; ask and we’ll tell you honestly what we can do.

Who are these sessions for?

Intact teams with a real decision in front of them, including:

  • Executive and senior leadership teams
  • Boards and advisory groups
  • Corporate innovation and strategy teams
  • Not-for-profit and philanthropic teams
  • University faculties, departments and research groups
  • Newly merged or restructured teams finding their footing
  • Teams setting direction for the year ahead
What does a facilitated day actually look like?
  • A pre-session conversation to sharpen the question you’re bringing
  • A designed agenda — divergence in the morning, hard prioritisation after lunch
  • Facilitation by Wade staff who run this work every week
  • Breaks and meals built into the booking rather than squeezed around it
  • A written summary with decisions, owners and next steps
Can we bring our own facilitator?

Yes. We can arrange a venue-and-catering option – you get the spaces, the food and the AV, and you run the day. It includes:

  • Rooms: from small seminar rooms through to the larger halls
  • Catering: morning tea, lunch and dinner on site
  • Support: an Ormond contact on the day for anything room-related

If you’d like a Wade facilitator for part of the day only — an opening provocation, or a closing prioritisation session — we can do that too.

What spaces are available at Ormond?

Ormond has a range of rooms and halls a short walk from Wade. Teams most often use:

  • Seminar rooms – for groups of eight to twenty-five, with AV and natural light.
  • The larger halls – for plenaries, presentations and dinners.
  • Breakout studies – quiet rooms for small-group work through the day.
  • Dining spaces – catered morning tea, lunch and formal dinner.
  • The grounds – for walking sessions and breaks between blocks.
How big can the group be?

Eight to forty works well. Below eight the room does the work for you; above forty we’d usually split the group into streams and bring a second facilitator.

Can people stay overnight?

Yes — that’s the residential format. Accommodation is on site at Ormond, so the evening stays part of the program instead of everyone dispersing at five.

What about dietary requirements and accessibility?

Tell us when you book. Catering handles the full range of dietary requirements, and we’ll match you to spaces that suit your group’s access needs.

How do we get the most out of the day?
  • Clear the diary properly — half-in days don’t work.
  • Send the question to the team a week ahead, not on the morning.
  • And bring the decision-maker. A day without them produces recommendations, not decisions.
Do we need a fully formed brief?

No. A rough problem is enough to start with — the scoping call exists to turn it into a question the day can actually answer.
